After four years of evenings under the same string lights in Boudha, we're opening a second Nexlo Bistro — this time in Naxal, a ten-minute walk from Durbar Marg. The Boudha garden isn't going anywhere. Here's everything we can tell you so far.
The short version: from 15 October 2025 there will be two Nexlo gardens in Kathmandu. Boudha stays exactly as it is — same team, same bonfire, same 7am breakfast. Naxal is the new one: a little smaller, a little later-running, and built around the bar as much as the kitchen.
We've had this conversation with regulars for the better part of a year. The most common version of it went something like "we love it here, but Boudha is a haul on a weeknight." Naxal answers that without asking anyone to give up the original.
Why Naxal
We looked at eleven properties across the valley. Naxal won for a boring reason and an interesting one. The boring reason is access: it sits between the Durbar Marg offices and the Bhatbhateni end of the ring road, which makes it a genuine after-work walk rather than a taxi negotiation.
The interesting reason is the courtyard. The building wraps around an old brick courtyard with two mature trees already in it — the kind of thing you can't build, only inherit. We're keeping both trees, laying the seating around them, and running the same warm low lighting we use in Boudha so the two gardens feel like siblings rather than franchises.
